At the beginning of the LHC data taking standard model
processes will be of central interest. In particular the single and pair
production of the electroweak bosons facilitate many studies and
physics analyses. Aspects of particular importance are:
the calibration of the lepton reconstruction, measurements of production
cross sections and of couplings between gauge bosons,
the influence of the strong interaction in the production, and the background
determination for searches for physics beyond the standard model.
Our group focuses on event topologies with muons and studies the
production of Z bosons, Drell-Yan lepton pairs at high mass, and the
pair production of W and Z bosons.
