14 days research at CERN for high-school students

also supervised by members of our group

16.10.2017

From 15 to 27 October, five high-school students from Bonn, Dresden, Erlangen, Mainz und Munich will have a dream come true: they will take part in research projects at CERN, the largest particle physics laboratory in the world. As a part of international working groups these students will take part in internships, organised for especially motivated and talented teenagers by Netzwerk Teilchenwelt.

All five participants have already spent part of their spare time on astro particle physics and/or high energy physics. They have visited events organised by Netzwerk Teilchenwelt [DE] and got engaged by organising workshops at their schools, giving talks about particle physics or working on student projects [DE], spending a significant amount of their time in the world of the smallest particles. And their efforts payed off for the five students which qualified for the internships [DE] and got one of the coveted places.

Supervised by researches from our chair, also Jan Eckerlein will take part in this year's workshop. The tenth grader at the Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium in Munich is especially interested in the interface between computer science and physics. Jan has already done internships at Max-Planck-Institute for Physics and at our chair and will work on multivariate analyses of ATLAS data during his forthcoming internship at CERN.

Please find more information about Netzwerk Teilchenwelt workshops here or in a recent CERN newspiece.
