Analysing ATLAS analyses

Researchers at the University of Chicago and LMU Munich work together to understand new trends in ATLAS data analysis on the Grid.

19.02.2016

With almost 200 computing centers around the world and data volumes in the ExaByte scale, the ATLAS experiment is well into the "Big Data" frontier.
For the first time, metadata from ATLAS computing systems has been gathered into a single centralised location using the cluster-based distributed storage software Hadoop.
On top, the Elastic Search engine makes indexing and searching the billions of imported documents easy and fast.
ATLAS team members can now directly access a website that lets them analyse and visualise the processing of their favourite data in real time.
The mysterious and heterogeneous landscape of ATLAS computing patterns is now unveiled!
