Tag der Quantenphysik
Wir feiern 100 Jahre Quantenphysik
08.11.2025
In 2025 we celebrated 100 years of research in Quantum Physics with an open day at LMU. While past years proved the importance of Quantum Physics, LMU put the current and ongoing projects in the spotlight. With a variety of presentations and interactive displays highlighting how quantum physics connects to many different research areas, motivated researchers and students offered a glimpse behind the scences of many fascinating projects.
Combining the efforts of both particle physics working groups at LMU, current researcher thrived to explain concepts of statistics in a playful manner offering visitors the chance to be part of their very own experiment. Letting each visitor roll a dice showed how a uniform distribution takes shape and the importance of many measurements for a solid understanding of a statistical quantitiy.

Posters and lively discussions bridged the gap to current particle physics at Belle 2. Lastly, visitors could immerse themselves into the world of the smallest particles with VR glasses offering the chance to walk alongside electrons and positrons as they collide and watch the beauty of an event.

A huge thank you to the organizers of this event, Prof. Thomas Kuhr for his talk on the smallest particles, and all active students and researchers of the particle physics working groups for their contributions to the success of this event.
